Hollywood is the 12th largest city in Florida and is situated in Broward County; 12 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale and 40 miles North of Miami.  Hollywood is only a short 10-minute drive from Fort Lauderdale Airport, and is close to I-95, I-75 and the Florida turnpike. Hollywood has a tropical climate with hot, humid summers and warm, dry winters with temperatures ranging from 68 to 83 degrees. Traveling around Hollywood itself is easy with its excellent trolley service that carries over 100,000 passengers every year to the beach and around the city’s attractions.

The beachfront community of Hollywood has grown in recent years to over 145,000 residents incorporating a mixture of couples, retirees and families. There are several luxury oceanfront hotels in Hollywood and many condominiums that attract holidaymakers and those seeking weekend getaways.

Activities & Events

There is so much going on throughout the year thanks to Hollywood’s packed calendar of activities and events. These include the Annual Candy Cane Parade along the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, the St Patrick’s Day celebration and the monthly Full Moon Drum Circle.  Culture and arts flourish in Hollywood due to its many galleries, art exhibitions, and art walks; the city is dotted with murals and sculptures throughout. The ArtsPark at Young Circle is central to Hollywood’s artistic hub and runs weekly activities including festivals, movie nights, outdoor performances and craft demonstrations. Every week the centre hosts a kids and family event.

Hollywood’s seven miles of beautiful beaches are the jewel in the city’s crown – and Florida’s.  Residents and visitors enjoy bicycling along the pedestrianized boardwalk, relaxing and admiring the waterfront views or taking part in one of the many water sports on offer.  Hollywood is home to many delightful dining and entertainment venues including cafes and restaurants in the Beach District as well as a vast array of excellent eating and night-time hotspots in Hollywood’s Downtown District such as The Hollywood Beach Theatre that hosts live music five nights a week.

Historic Districts

Joseph Young founded Hollywood, Florida in 1925. His Mediterranean style house is located on Hollywood Boulevard and is one of the oldest houses in Hollywood. Downtown Hollywood is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the central hub for entertainment, festivals and street markets with its charming sidewalk cafes, shops and boutiques that line the pedestrianized streets.

The family-friendly social activities, the fresh sea air and the availability of excellent educational facilities make Hollywood an ideal place for families.  Hollywood offers 32 excellent public and charter schools and 13 private schools.
